Trekking Guide Since 2009 | Tourism Professional | Entrepreneur | Social Contributor
Ishwor Bhandari is a tourism professional, experienced trekking guide, entrepreneur, and the Managing Director of Explore Holiday Nepal Pvt. Ltd. His journey in Nepal’s tourism industry is a story of hard work, patience, learning, and determination. Starting his career as a porter, Ishwor gradually developed his skills and experience and today leads his own trekking and travel company, Explore Holiday Nepal.
Born in Arughat-10, Gorkha, in the Manaslu region of Nepal, Ishwor grew up in a middle-income family. Arughat is one of the traditional starting points for the Manaslu trekking region, and growing up close to the mountains gave him a strong connection with the Himalayan landscape, local communities, culture, and way of life.
After completing his education at a government school in Gorkha, Ishwor moved to Kathmandu in 2009 to build his career. With determination and a willingness to learn, he started working in the trekking industry with Osho Vision Treks as a porter.
Ishwor's career did not begin with a company office or a management position. He started from the ground level—as a porter.
Working in the mountains taught him the realities of trekking, including long walking days, changing weather, difficult trails, high-altitude conditions, teamwork, and the importance of taking care of travelers. Step by step, he gained experience and progressed from porter to trekking guide and eventually into management.
Since 2009, Ishwor has worked as a trekking guide, gaining extensive experience across many of Nepal's most popular trekking destinations.
His experience includes trekking routes such as:
Manaslu Circuit Trek
Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp
Everest Base Camp
Langtang Valley
Kanchenjunga
Upper Mustang
Poon Hill
Mardi Himal
Ghorepani and other Annapurna routes
Many other trekking and mountain regions of Nepal
His years in the mountains have helped him understand not only the trails and mountains but also the people, cultures, villages, accommodation, weather conditions, transportation, and practical challenges travelers may experience during a Himalayan journey.
After gaining years of practical experience in the field, Ishwor progressed into a management position.
Since 2015, he has worked as a manager at Osho Vision Treks, where he developed valuable experience in organizing trekking programs, communicating with international travelers, coordinating guides and porters, managing logistics, and providing tourism services.
This experience became an important foundation for his future as an entrepreneur.
Ishwor expanded his involvement in Nepal's hospitality industry in 2017, becoming a hotel owner at Hotel Amarilys.
His experience in trekking and hospitality has allowed him to understand tourism from different perspectives—from the mountain trail to accommodation and from the guide's responsibilities to the overall experience of the traveler.
For Ishwor, tourism is not simply about selling a trekking package. It is about welcoming people to Nepal, understanding their needs, providing reliable service, and helping them experience the country's mountains, nature, culture, and communities.
One of the most important milestones in Ishwor's professional journey is the establishment of Explore Holiday Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
Today, as the Managing Director of Explore Holiday Nepal, he is involved in managing the company's operations and services, including trekking, tours, transportation, guides, and customized travel experiences.
His personal experience in the mountains allows him to understand many aspects of a journey before a client even begins their trek.
Rather than building his career only from an office, Ishwor learned tourism by working directly on the trails and traveling through Nepal's mountain regions.
From carrying a backpack as a porter to carrying the responsibility of a tourism company, his journey has been built step by step.
Although Ishwor has extensive experience across Nepal, the Manaslu region remains especially important to him.
He was born in Gorkha, close to the Manaslu trekking area, and has spent many years working in the mountains. His connection with the region gives him a strong understanding of the local communities, culture, trails, landscapes, and trekking environment.
For him, Manaslu is more than a trekking destination. It is part of his home, his professional journey, and his identity as a mountain guide.
Through Explore Holiday Nepal, Ishwor aims to introduce travelers to the beauty of Manaslu while supporting local people and communities.
Ishwor believes that success in tourism comes through hard work, honesty, experience, and responsibility.
His own career is an example of this philosophy. He started at the bottom of the tourism industry and gradually developed his career through years of practical experience.
At Explore Holiday Nepal, his focus is on providing travelers with:
His goal is to ensure that travelers do not simply complete a trek but return home with positive memories of Nepal and its people.
Beyond tourism, Ishwor also believes in giving something back to society.
Coming from a middle-income family and having experienced the challenges of building a career from the beginning, he understands the importance of opportunities and support for people who have fewer resources.
He tries to contribute to local communities, particularly by helping school students, poor families, and people in need in villages.
His social activities include supporting students and providing assistance to disadvantaged people whenever possible.
For Ishwor, success is not measured only by business growth. He believes that if his work can also create opportunities, support local people, and contribute to communities, it gives greater meaning to his professional journey.
Ishwor's vision is to develop Explore Holiday Nepal as a trusted, locally experienced, service-focused Nepal tourism company.
He wants international travelers to experience Nepal through people who genuinely understand the country—not only as tourism professionals but as local people who know its mountains, villages, cultures, traditions, and communities.
With his background as a porter, trekking guide, manager, hotel owner, and now Managing Director, Ishwor brings practical experience from almost every level of the tourism industry.
Ishwor Bhandari's story is ultimately a story of starting small and never stopping.
He was born in a village in Gorkha, studied in a government school, came to Kathmandu in 2009, and started his tourism career as a porter with Osho Vision Treks.
Through years of hard work, learning, guiding, management, entrepreneurship, and service, he has built his career in Nepal's tourism industry.
Today, he leads Explore Holiday Nepal with the same connection to the mountains and local communities that inspired him at the beginning of his journey.
